Greetings!

 

I've always had a fascination with the power of words and language. I love how song lyrics, book passages, poems, movie lines, etc., evoke a myriad of emotions inside of me. Movies, books, songs, and poems all do the same thing: tell a story. 

 

To help feed this writing passion, I earned a B.A. in journalism with a concentration in magazine editing from Columbia College Chicago. This concentration served me well as I went on to become senior editor, then editor-in-chief of Chicago GRO (Grand Overview), a magazine catering to the many fabulous things about Chicago. I often describe GRO as our love affair with the Windy City. Having been part of the team who created GRO magazine, this wonderful publication is one of my proudest accomplishments.

 

Columbia College is also where I developed an interest in fiction writing, which is now a permanent part of my creative soul. In fact, because of this interest in fiction writing, I later decided to pursue an advanced degree and received an M.A. in writing and publishing from DePaul University. Not only was I able to hone my fiction writing skills, but I was also introduced to creative non-fiction (or literary non-fiction), a wonderful genre that I would have never delved into had it not been for this advanced degree. I have now written about situations in my life that I never thought had much of an impact on me until the words suddenly appeared on the page. I hope one day that my stories evoke something in you like many stories have done for me.
